Oxney Organic Estate has three barns available for guests on holiday or short breaks. The barns are based on the Isle of Oxney at Stone Cum Ebony. The Old Barn sleep six, The Long Barn and The Little Barn each sleep four.
Our converted barns are located at Odiam Farm at Stone Cum Ebony between Tenterden and Rye. The farm dates back to the 1400s or earlier and the area is steeped in history. The barns are surrounded by the Grade II listed farmhouse to the west, our fields to the north and south, and the farm yard with our old style Dutch barn to the east.
Restoring the barns we have aimed for a light, informal and relaxing approach. The style is a mix of modern and old, oak, coir and painted floors, greys and naturals. We have opted for organic mattresses by Abaca for most of the beds and have made headboards and other fittings from our own oak milled on the farm. Each barn has its own outside space with lawn, patio and traditional outdoor seating made from local coppiced chestnut. There is no gate as you drive in to the barns so not suitable for unsupervised roaming toddlers.
The barns’ water, electricity and heating is 100% renewable. Our wood chip boiler heats the water and the radiators and we buy our electricity from Good Energy (and generate some with our solar panels too!). All our farmland is organic certified by the Soil Association and as a result we’re surrounded by birds, wild flowers and wildlife.
